Teaching Blog Addict Freebie Friday

Check out my winter freebie!  A great way to have your kids get to know each other a bit more-especially at the beginning of the year!  With Kindergarten, I like to use the format as an interactive writing activity first and then transfer the information into the child's book.  They can take them home and illustrate or find time during the day when they can do this.  When they are done, I like to laminate and bind and then put into our reading corner for the kids to enjoy!

Hello teachers!
I hope that everyone is enjoying their time off from school!  I have been enjoying the quiet of the north woods with lots of the white stuff!  Our dog is in heaven and we have been enjoying some snowmobiling ourselves.

Tonight, while sitting in front of a roaring fire, I have finished another product in my Teacher and Me Books series.  This book focuses on the sight words come and here!  You can check it out here...

Thanks for taking the time to check it out!
Enjoy the rest of your break with family and friends!

Break is in sight!

While many of you are already on break for the holidays, we still have 2 days left!  The kids are hanging on by a thread (maybe the teachers too!?!)!  Just finished up on the kids' parent gifts that we started last week.  Thought they turned out cute!  Thank you, Pinterest!
Hoping parents will think of it as a cute keepsake for years to come!

Did You Know???

Does your school district have state testing in Kindergarten?
In Wisconsin, we use PALS.
Today, I went to a meeting that was all about how to use PALS data to drive our reading instruction.  I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to come away with a few aha's and a few reminders of things that I knew, but forgot over time.
Did you know, that if you go to their website, they have 3 different lesson plan formats to use according to where your group is in reading?  Some said that they found this to be very useful in their planning and that they weren't fumbling for things to do!
They also have a section where you can go in and check how your students performed the year before.
Also, we learned the order to teach concepts where students did not meet benchmark or needed a bit more instruction. I am anxious to go back to my classroom and try a few of these things to see if they will help make my teaching more streamline and efficient!  Let's hope so!
Here are a couple of the handouts that we got that I found to be helpful!

New product!

I just downloaded my newest emergent reader in my series, Teacher and Me books on TpT.  This book helps students become fluent with reading and writing the sight words said and this.  It also can be used to review other sight words as well!

Stay tuned this week to see these books in action!

Hello and Welcome to my new blog!

Welcome!

I would like to introduce myself...My name is Rita Hausher and I have  been a Kindergarten teacher for most of my teaching career.  I have had a few years of experience with first and pre-k, however, most of my 20+ years has been in the crazy world of Kindergarten.

I am excited to become a part of the blogging world and can't wait to share ideas and activities that can be used in your classroom as well as learn some new tricks of the trade from others!
